Coaches invest resources, and energy, and sweat into recruiting athletes. It comes with the territory.
Some may think this is only true of college or national teams. It’s true at all levels.
Here’s the tricky part, once you get them, how do you keep them? They’re on the team, how do you get them to stay?
That one question is responsible for keeping more than one Coach up at night.
Who stays?
Who do you want on your team? The right athlete, of course.
That “right” athlete is the one who is good for the Coach. For the team. The athletics program. The school.
So, how do you keep that athlete? What’s a good plan for athlete retention?
Super simple.
You make it great experience.
How?
You have to re-recruit them.
Re-Recruit
As there are essential actions you take to recruit an athlete, there are also essential actions you have to take to retain them.
And those Coaches who don’t take those essential re-recruit actions—what happens to them?
They watch their athletes leave.
And then they get even less sleep.
